Used to be, the key to beating Teen Wolf’s Beavers was just to play them on any night there wasn’t a full moon. We were unlucky one season in that we met them 28 days apart, both times in their barn, and Teen Wolf destroyed us—64 points in the first game, then a quadruple-double in the second, with 14 blocked shots and 25 steals. Our third matchup, though, we were fortunate enough to have a 76 percent waxing gibbous, so it was regular Scott Howard, who turned the ball over twice before fouling out, scoreless, in eight minutes of play. These days, however, it seems the guy can change over whenever he wants, which poses a real problem to opposing coaches. What follows is the best strategy my staff and I have come up with to limit Teen Wolf’s effectiveness on the court. While admittedly far from foolproof, it will, hopefully, prove useful to your team. Rex Grossman, former star at Bloomington’s beloved South High School, has been ousted for the starting QB position by fellow hoosier, Kyle Orton (of Purdue). Orton did a great job last year of filling in and replacing spare Grossman, whose career is fizzling as fast as it began. Who knows, maybe the Spare QB by committee approach will work again for the Bears this year.

Oh yeah, it didn’t work.

Vinny Del Negro, which in espanol translates to:’of or from the black’, is a definite candidate for the starting 2 guard on the All time spare team. Although Peter Holt and the Spurs would disagree as they named him to the Spurs top 25 all time team. The fact that Vinny would make the same list as the Iceman George Gervin is ludacris. As for his run in the Italian league I think we can all agree that those accomplishments are as questionable as the talent that played in Europe in the early ’90s. You’ve got to give it to a guy that actually keeps a hairstlye that was ‘in’ 20+years ago only to have it come back in style. Along with his fundamental hair ‘do’ how about Vinny’s overall fundamentals. Absolutely perfect. Coach Cook would appreciate the proper execution of BEEF while attempting the Set Jump Shot and Free Throws. Vinny played for five different teams (Sacramento, San Antonio, Milwaukee, Golden State and Phoenix) and appeared in 771 games, starting almost half of those. He averaged 9.1 ppg, 3.2 apg and 2.3 rpg… among some of the coaches he played for in the NBA were: Jerry Reynolds, Dick Motta, John Lucas, Bob Hill, Gregg Popovich, Dave Cowens, George Karl and Scott Skiles … he was selected 29th overall (which in that time was a second round pick) of the 1988 NBA Draft … spent two seasons in Italy with Benetton Treviso (1990-92) … he actually won an Italian League Championship and was named playoff MVP… was a member of the Spurs for six seasons (1992-98) and was selected to San Antonio’s 25th Anniversary Team as one of the top 25 players in Spurs history, after helping San Antonio claim two Midwest Division titles …he also signed with Milwaukee … and finally appeared in 38 games with Phoenix during the 2000-01 campaign prior to being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team trade, but he never suited up for the Clippers. He was recently signed as Head Coach of the Chicago Bulls after a run in the front office for the Phoenix Suns.

A few months ago, I had the idea to create this “wiki” space, though the idea was not yet fully baked at the time. In order to develop the idea, I began bouncing it off some people here and there. My wife, my brother Steve, a few friends of mine, and finally Mark Cuban, the famed owner of the Dallas Mavericks.

Actually he was the first person outside of my wife that I told. I sent the idea to his blog and hoped to get some response because I was from Dallas too (yeah right). I posted it right under his latest post at the time (2,433 Unread Emails, I Feel Your Pain), and expectedly received no response. This forced me to figure some things out on my own.

I began researching my plan, trying to figure out if this sort of thing had been done before, how to manage the software, and what sort of people would be interested. Eventually I found Netcipia.net among an array of free Wiki sites, and here we are today.

The idea is still not entirely baked, but progress is evident. I plan to grow membership slowly over the next year or so, and eventually offer custom player products such as jerseys, cards, posters and more. These kinds of things you just have to do on your own. For that Mr. Cuban, I thank you.

Mike Iuzzolino selected in 2nd round in 1991 draft by the Mavs. He was 5 ‘10 and white. He averaged a very Sparish 9pts per game in his 2yr NBA career. Mike made JJ Barea look like John Stockton. Mike was a key cog in the most futile period in Mav’s history and NBA history for that matter. Dexter Cambridge and Donald Hodge were his running mates during that era. Need I say more? SPARE!

I’m all for it. The guy only has one career, if he wants to keep it going with a spare NY Jets team, that’s his call. Get behind him, America.
